Getting Started
How No Missed Call works
Every missed call is a customer who probably called your competitor next. No Missed Call fixes that with an AI receptionist that answers your business line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — it sounds human, knows your business, books appointments, and captures every lead.
The full loop: customer calls → AI answers → you get the transcript, lead, and booking.
Your dedicated number
When you finish setup you get a dedicated phone number that your AI answers. You can use it two ways: give it out directly (website, Google listing, business cards), or keep your existing business number and forward it — your customers keep dialing the number they already know, and the AI catches whatever you can't.
What happens on every call
The agent greets callers with your custom greeting, answers questions using the knowledge you've taught it, collects the caller's name and contact details, and can book a real appointment on your calendar. The moment the call ends, the full transcript, an AI-written summary, and the recording appear in your Calls tab — and you get a push notification.
Tip
You don't have to change anything about your phone service to start. Try the dedicated number first, then set up forwarding once you trust it.
Most businesses go from download to fully live in under ten minutes. Here's the whole journey:
The five stops on the way to never missing a call again.
Finish onboarding — this creates your agent and gives it a first pass at your business.
Personalize it on the Agent tab: pick its name, voice, and personality so it sounds like someone you'd actually hire.
Teach it your business on the Knowledge tab — upload a price list, paste your website URL, or lean on your industry starter pack.
Open Deploy to get your number, then set up call forwarding from your existing line (the in-app guide covers every major carrier).
Make a test call. Ask it about your services, your hours, and to book a time — then watch everything appear in the Calls tab.
Tip
Steps 2 and 3 are where the magic lives. Ten extra minutes on Knowledge makes the difference between a generic answering service and an agent that sounds like your best employee.
Before you send real customers to your agent, have a conversation with it yourself. Call your NoMissedCall number from your cell phone and talk to it exactly like a customer would.
What to test
Ask what services you offer — does it describe your business accurately?
Ask about hours, pricing, and your service area.
Try to book an appointment and see how it handles finding a time.
Throw it a curveball — a question a real customer might ask that isn't in its knowledge yet.
Within about a minute of hanging up, your call shows up in the Calls tab.
Open the call to read the full transcript and hear the recording. Anything the agent got wrong or didn't know is your to-do list for the Knowledge tab — add the missing info and call again. Two or three rounds of this and your agent will be sharp.
Tip
Test again after every big change — new greeting, new voice, new knowledge. Changes go live within moments of saving.
The Dashboard is your morning check-in: is my agent answering, how busy was it, and did anything need my attention?
The hero card. Green Live badge = your number is live and answering.
Live vs. Ready
The badge on the hero card tells you your agent's status. A green, pulsing Live means your number is provisioned and actively answering calls. If it shows Ready instead, your agent is configured but not yet connected to a live number — head to the Deploy tab to finish that last step.
Below the hero you'll find your key numbers (Total Calls, Meetings Booked), your AI minutes for the month, call sentiment, the activity graph, and your most recent calls — each explained in its own guide below.
The two big cards at the top are your scoreboard: every call your AI has handled, and every meeting it has booked for you.
The red badge counts new activity since you last looked.
The "new" badge
The red badge in the corner counts calls (or bookings) that came in since you last opened the list — so you can see at a glance whether anything happened overnight. Tapping the card opens the full list and clears the badge.
Tip
Total Calls opens the Calls tab; Meetings Booked opens your meeting requests, where you can confirm or dismiss what the AI set up.
AI minutes are the fuel your agent runs on. This card shows exactly how much of your monthly allowance you've used and when it resets.
182 of 250 minutes used, 12 days to reset. The bar changes color as you approach the limit.
How minutes are counted
Only time the AI actually spends talking on a call counts against your allowance. Calls you answer yourself through ring-my-phone-first are completely free — no matter how long you talk. NMC Pro includes 250 minutes per billing month; NMC Premium includes 500.
The color warning system
The bar is blue while you're comfortably within your allowance, turns amber when you cross 80%, and red when you hit the limit. At the limit your AI pauses and callers hear a brief "temporarily unavailable" message until your minutes reset on your billing date — or instantly, if you upgrade to Premium.
Good to know
Ring-my-phone-first keeps working even when your AI is paused — you'll still get your calls, you just won't have AI backup until the reset.
Every completed call is automatically scored from its transcript as positive, neutral, or negative — a quick emotional temperature reading across all your calls.
A negative count worth investigating — tap into those calls before the caller becomes a lost customer.
How to use it
A rising negative count is your early-warning system. Open the Calls tab, find the negative calls, and read what happened — maybe a price surprised someone, maybe the agent didn't know an answer, maybe a caller was just having a bad day. Two of those three are fixable tonight.
Tip
Negative calls where the agent lacked an answer are Knowledge tab gold: add the missing info and that call type turns positive.
The activity graph shows your calls, bookings, and follow-ups over time, so you can see your busy days and spot trends.
Use the pills to switch between Today, 3-day, 7-day, and 30-day views.
Use the short ranges (Today, 3d) to check on this week's flow, and the 30-day view to see the bigger picture — is call volume growing since you put the number on your website? Did that ad campaign actually make the phone ring?
Recent Calls
The bottom of the Dashboard shows your latest calls so you can review them without leaving the page.
Tap any row for the full transcript and recording; See All opens the complete list.
Each row shows who called, when, the outcome, and how long it lasted. Tap one to jump straight into its transcript, summary, and recording. See All takes you to the Calls tab with filters and the complete history.
The Calls tab is the permanent record of every conversation your agent has had. Once you can read a row at a glance, you can triage a whole day of calls in seconds.
Anatomy of a call row: caller, time, recording icon, outcome pill, duration.
What each part means
Caller — the name if the agent captured one, otherwise the phone number.
Time — shown in your business timezone, not the caller's.
Mic icon — a recording exists; you'll find the player inside the call detail.
Outcome pill — Completed (green), Voicemail (purple), or Booked (purple) when a meeting came out of the call.
Duration — how long the conversation lasted.
Tip
A short duration with a Booked pill is the dream: the agent qualified the caller and booked them fast.
Four filters across the top slice your call history: All, Completed, Voicemail, and Booked.
Booked expands into Pending, Confirmed, and Dismissed meeting requests.
The Booked filter
Booked is the one with depth. It splits into Pending (the AI proposed or booked a time that's waiting on you), Confirmed (locked in), and Dismissed (requests you've declined). Checking Pending once a day is the single best habit for keeping your calendar honest.
Tap any call to open its full detail — everything that happened on that call, in layers from quickest to deepest.
Summary on top, word-for-word transcript below, audio player for the recording.
Read it in this order
AI Summary — the whole call in a few lines: who called, what they wanted, what the agent did.
Action items — anything that needs you, like "call back with a custom quote".
Captured lead info — name, number, email, and whatever else you told the agent to collect.
Transcript — the word-for-word conversation, when you need the exact wording.
Recording — the actual audio, for tone and anything the transcript can't carry.
Tip
The summary covers 90% of calls. Save the transcript and recording for the calls that matter — disputes, big quotes, and checking how your agent handles tricky questions.
VoicemailsPremium
Not every caller should get the full AI treatment. Contacts you add to Send to Voicemail (under Deploy → Spam Filters) skip the agent entirely and leave a classic voicemail instead.
Voicemails wear a purple pill and play right in the app.
How it works
When someone on your voicemail list calls, they hear a voicemail greeting instead of your agent. Their message is recorded, transcribed automatically, and lands in your Calls tab with a purple Voicemail pill — and you get a push notification the moment it arrives.
Tip
Great for personal contacts who'd be confused by an AI, or vendors whose calls you want on record but don't need answered live.
When the AI books or proposes an appointment during a call, it shows up under the Booked filter as a meeting request.
With Calendar Sync on
If you've connected Google Calendar (Knowledge tab, Premium), bookings land directly on your real calendar with a proper invite — the caller gets an email confirmation with a Meet link, and the slot is blocked so the agent can't double-book it.
Without Calendar Sync
Requests wait in Pending for you to confirm or dismiss. The agent proposes times based on your stated availability, but the final word is yours.
Tip
Check Pending daily — a fast confirmation is the difference between a booked customer and one who found someone else while waiting.
Your agent introduces itself by name and answers on behalf of your business — these two fields shape the first three seconds of every call.
Change the name and the spoken greeting updates automatically.
Pick a name that fits your business's personality. "Alex" reads neutral and professional; something playful can work if your brand is playful too. The business name should match how customers know you — if your sign says "Joe's Plumbing" don't enter "Joseph's Plumbing Services LLC".
Picking your industry loads a curated starter knowledge pack, so the agent speaks your trade's language from the very first call — the services people ask about, the terminology, the common questions.
A plumber's agent should know what "water heater flush" means without being taught; a salon's agent should understand "balayage". That's what this setting buys you.
Tip
The industry pack is the floor, not the ceiling. Your own uploads on the Knowledge tab always take priority over the starter pack.
Professional, casual, friendly, or formal — the tone setting shapes word choice on every single call.
Which should you pick?
Ask yourself how you'd talk to a customer standing in front of you. A law office probably wants professional or formal. A surf shop wants casual. Friendly is the safe middle for most local businesses — warm but still businesslike.
Changes apply within moments of saving, so it's cheap to experiment: change the tone, call your number, and hear the difference.
The voice is what callers actually hear — arguably the most important single choice on this tab.
Tap the play button to hear a preview before committing.
Preview each voice before saving. You're listening for two things: does it match your brand, and does it sound natural saying the kind of sentences your business uses? Changes go live on the very next call.
Tip
Match the voice to the agent's name — callers notice when "Alex" sounds like a different person than the name suggests.
Greeting
The greeting is the first sentence every caller hears, and it does three jobs in about four seconds: confirms they called the right place, introduces the agent, and invites them to talk.
Short beats clever: business name + agent name + an offer to help.
The formula
"Thanks for calling [your business], this is [agent name]. How can I help?" — that's it. Resist the urge to pack in your hours, website, and promotions; callers start talking over long greetings and miss information anyway.
Good to know
Avoid greetings that pretend the agent is human when asked. It will handle the "are you a robot?" question gracefully on its own — an honest setup keeps callers' trust.
This is where you tell the agent what to always collect and how to behave — the difference between a chat and a captured lead.
Capture fields
Name, phone number, email, reason for calling — whatever your follow-up process needs. The agent weaves these into the conversation naturally instead of interrogating the caller.
Instructions
Standing rules the agent must follow: "never quote prices for custom work, take their details instead", "always ask how they heard about us", "if it's an emergency, tell them to call 911 first". Write them like you'd brief a new receptionist on their first day.
Everything captured shows up in the call's detail page, and flows automatically to your CRM if you've connected one via webhooks.
Every edit on this tab — name, voice, tone, greeting, instructions — applies within moments of saving. The only way to really know how it feels is to call.
Save your change.
Call your NoMissedCall number from your cell.
Listen for the change — new greeting, new voice, new behavior.
Check the call afterward in the Calls tab to read how the transcript looks.
Tip
Keep a mental list of 3 questions your customers actually ask, and ask them on every test call. Consistency across tests tells you more than any single call.
Your agent can only answer what it knows. Out of the box it's a great receptionist with amnesia — the Knowledge tab is where you give it a memory.
Feed it your services, prices, hours, service area, and policies, and it stops deflecting questions and starts closing callers like your best employee would. Every "I'm not sure about that" in a transcript is really a missing knowledge entry.
Tip
After your first week, skim your transcripts for questions the agent fumbled. That list IS your knowledge backlog.
Drop in PDFs, docs, or plain text — price lists, FAQs, service menus, policy sheets. The agent digests them automatically and uses them to answer callers.
Two ways in: upload documents, or point the scraper at your website.
What to upload first
Your price list or rate sheet — pricing is the #1 thing callers ask.
An FAQ, if you have one — even a rough internal one.
Your service menu — everything you do, and just as importantly, what you don't.
You don't need polished documents. A plain text file of bullet points works exactly as well as a designed PDF.
Paste your website URL and the agent reads your site and learns your business from it — usually the fastest single action you can take on this tab.
Everything a customer could learn from your website, your agent now knows too: services, about-us story, service area, hours. Re-run it whenever your site changes significantly.
Good to know
The scraper knows what your website says — not what it doesn't. If your prices aren't on your site, upload them separately.
The industry starter pack (loaded when you picked your industry on the Agent tab) gives the agent baseline fluency in your trade — terminology, typical services, and common customer questions.
Think of it as the safety net under your own knowledge: when a caller asks something your uploads don't cover, the industry pack often catches it. Your own material always takes priority when both could answer.
This is the feature that turns "someone will call you back to schedule" into "you're booked for Tuesday at 10, check your email" — while the caller is still on the phone.
One switch: the agent checks your real availability and books real appointments.
What the agent can do once connected
Check your actual Google Calendar availability live, during the call.
Book the appointment into a genuinely free slot — no double-booking.
Send the caller a calendar invite by email, with a Google Meet link.
Put the event on your calendar instantly, so you see it wherever you see your calendar.
Setting it up
Flip the Sync with Google Calendar switch and approve access in the Google window that opens. You can disconnect anytime — your calendar data stays in your Google account, and disconnecting simply takes the agent's booking powers away.
With Calendar Sync on, the Availability card shows what the agent sees: your open slots for the next 7 days, plus upcoming appointments the AI has booked.
If the open slots look wrong, fix the source: block personal time on your Google Calendar and the agent respects it immediately. The agent can only book into time that's genuinely free.
Forwarding connects your existing business line to your AI. The in-app guide walks you through the exact dial codes for your carrier — it's usually a 30-second, one-time setup from your phone's dialer.
Conditional vs. unconditional
Conditional forwarding (busy / no answer) is the recommended way to start: your phone rings first, exactly like today, and the AI only catches calls you don't take. Unconditional forwarding sends everything straight to the AI — useful for after-hours or vacations.
Tip
Start conditional. Once you've read a week of transcripts and trust the agent, you can always hand it more.
Good to know
Forwarding is set up with your carrier, not in this app — if you change carriers, you'll need to redo it.
Ring-first is the have-it-both-ways setting: you stay first in line for every call, and the AI is your safety net instead of your gatekeeper.
Your phone rings first. Press 1 to take it; stay silent and the AI answers seamlessly.
How a call flows
A customer calls your number.
YOUR phone rings. Press 1 to take the call yourself.
If you don't answer, the AI picks up smoothly — callers never hear a handoff.
The best part: free calls
Any call you answer through ring-first costs zero AI minutes — the meter only runs when the AI itself is talking. Heavy ring-first users often finish the month with most of their minutes untouched.
Block-before-connect — known spam is rejected before the call ever starts. Spammers hear a disconnected tone; you're never charged a second.
Your personal lists
Add specific numbers to the Blocked list to ban them outright, or put contacts on Send to Voicemail so they skip the AI and leave a message instead — perfect for personal contacts and vendors.
Tip
Blocked calls never connect, so they never use minutes and never appear as answered calls.
The widget puts your AI receptionist on your own website — a call bubble in the corner that lets visitors talk to your agent right in their browser, no phone required.
One line of code = a live receptionist on every page of your site.
Installing it
Open Deploy → Website Widget and tap Generate.
Copy the one-line embed code.
Paste it just before the closing </body> tag on your site — any website builder that allows custom code works (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, GHL, hand-built).
You control the bubble's color, which corner it sits in, and which websites are allowed to load it. Website conversations use your monthly minutes exactly like phone calls, and show up in your Calls tab the same way.
For businesses running a CRM or automation stack: API keys, webhooks, and a REST API let every completed call, captured lead, and booked meeting flow into your systems automatically.
The full guides live in the Integrations & API binder below — keys, webhooks, and the REST quick start each have their own article.
Webhooks push events to you the moment they happen — no polling. Point one at your endpoint and NoMissedCall calls it whenever a call completes, a lead is captured, or a meeting is booked.
Send test fires a sample event so you can verify your endpoint before going live.
Getting a webhook working
Add your endpoint URL and pick which events you care about.
Tap Send test and confirm your endpoint received the sample payload.
Watch Recent deliveries — every real delivery is logged with its status code, so debugging is just reading the list.
Tip
The classic recipe: webhook → Zapier → your CRM. Every captured lead becomes a CRM contact while the caller is still hanging up.
The REST API lets you pull your calls, leads, and agent configuration programmatically — for custom dashboards, reporting, or syncing into systems webhooks don't fit.
The Quick start card on the Integrations page shows a ready-to-run curl example with your real endpoint filled in. Authenticate with an API key, and you're reading your call data in one command.
The subscription card shows your current plan — NMC Pro or NMC Premium — and everything you can do with it.
Upgrades are prorated: you only pay the difference for the rest of the cycle.
Pro vs. Premium
Pro includes the full receptionist: 24/7 answering, transcripts, bookings, and 250 AI minutes a month. Premium doubles you to 500 minutes and unlocks Calendar Sync, Spam Filters, the Website Widget, and Integrations & API.
Managing your plan
Upgrade or switch plans right here; billing itself runs through the App Store or Google Play, which handles proration automatically. Downgrades take effect at your next renewal, so you keep what you paid for.
Tip
Bought Premium but it isn't showing? Tap Restore Purchases and make sure you're signed into the same Apple or Google account you purchased with.
Signing out is completely safe: your agent keeps answering calls while you're logged out, and everything is exactly where you left it when you sign back in.
Good to know
Account deletion is different — it's permanent, releases your phone number, and erases your call history. There's no undo.
If you're deleting because something isn't working, email [email protected] first — most problems are fixable in a day.
Frequently asked questions
How many minutes do I get?
250 per month on NMC Pro, 500 on NMC Premium. Only time the AI spends talking counts — calls you answer yourself via ring-first are free.
When do my minutes reset?
On your billing date each month. The Dashboard's AI Minutes card shows exactly how many days until your reset.
What happens if I run out of minutes?
Callers hear a brief "temporarily unavailable" message and the AI pauses. Ring-my-phone-first keeps working. Upgrade to Premium for 500 minutes or wait for the reset — the AI switches back on automatically.
How do I upgrade to Premium?
Tap any feature with the purple diamond, or Settings → Upgrade to Premium. The App Store or Google Play prorates the switch, so you only pay the difference for the rest of this cycle.
How do I downgrade or cancel?
Settings → Switch to NMC Pro takes effect at your next renewal. To cancel entirely, use your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
I paid but Premium isn't showing.
Tap Restore Purchases on the upgrade screen or in Settings, and make sure you're signed into the same Apple or Google account you purchased with.
Does the AI work nights and weekends?
Yes — 24/7, every day. Set your operating hours on the Agent tab if you want the agent to mention them to callers.
Can I keep my existing business number?
Yes. Forward it to your NoMissedCall number (Deploy → call forwarding guide). Your customers keep dialing the number they already know.
What does Spam Filters actually block?
Numbers you blocklist, toll-free telemarketers (if enabled), callers with hidden or spoofed caller ID, and numbers flagged as spam across the NoMissedCall network. Blocked calls never connect, so they never use minutes.
How does Send to Voicemail work?
Add a contact's number and the AI never engages them — they hear a voicemail greeting and their message (with transcript) lands in your Calls tab with a push notification.
How do I put the widget on my website?
Deploy → Website Widget → Generate → copy the one-line snippet → paste it just before </body> on your site. Works on any website builder that allows custom code.
Do website calls cost minutes?
Yes — they use the same monthly minutes as phone calls.
Can I use NoMissedCall on my computer?
Yes — sign in at nomissedcall.app in any browser. Purchases and upgrades happen in the mobile app.
Is my call data private?
Calls are processed to give you transcripts and summaries, and your data stays in your account. See the Privacy Policy in Settings for full details.
